Exchanges and Data Centres.

Peering exchanges.

Vital operates two peering exchanges in New Zealand, the Auckland Peering Exchange (APE) and the Wellington Internet Exchange (WIX).

These exchanges provide a common meeting place into which ISPs and other organisations can connect and exchange traffic.

Who can use Vital’s peering exchanges?

Our peering exchanges are widely used by research and education institutes, content consumers, content distributors, ISPs, and large organisations.

You need to have your own assigned public IPv4 (/24 or larger) or IPv6 (/48 or larger) block to connect to our peering exchanges.

Existing channel partners can order a connection through the Partner Portal, new customers can contact our friendly Sales Team for more information.

Data centres.

Vital’s data centres in Auckland and Wellington house our fibre network’s core nodes and provide customer co-location services.

Resilience

We have diverse fibre paths out of our data centres and can offer network, power and cooling redundancy.

Security

Critical function alarms, card-controlled access and camera monitoring allow us to keep a close eye on our data centres.
