We Are Vital

What We’re About

When it comes to keeping businesses connected, having the right tools in place, backed by a reliable team is, well… vital.

Vital delivers innovative telecommunications solutions that keep Kiwi businesses connected and their people safe. Every day, our networks connect frontline workers, support health and safety initiatives, and add resiliency – from city to country, from mountain to coast.

We offer modern infrastructure and highly supported services, while remaining flexible and agile. We roll up our sleeves and get stuck in, working alongside our customers (and our customers’ customers) to design, build, and manage high quality networks that connect and support great businesses 24/7.

It’s a big responsibility and one we take seriously.

Vitality

We act with vitality every single second.
Our name is no accident. Vital describes the telecommunications technology that connects our customers, and the way we want to live each day at work. Working, acting, and interacting with vitality is important to our team. Having the energy, optimism and momentum to innovate, fix, deliver and tackle problems is what makes us Vital.

Insight

We use insight to optimise today and innovate tomorrow.
Our history, experience, and relationships help us to understand our customers, the challenges they face, and their day-to-day work. Insight allows us to deliver vital services that keep Kiwis in touch in new, resilient, and flexible ways.

Togetherness

We have each other’s back every day.
We strive to take team work to the next level. Just like our networks, our teams are connected throughout Aotearoa. Togetherness isn’t just the way we communicate and collaborate. It’s about our culture and having each other’s backs, so that when we face challenges or go out on a limb with a new idea, we know we have the real support of everyone around us.

Ambition

We show up with our ambition.
Keeping things moving, keeping the lines open and minimising downtime is just the beginning. We encourage our teams to explore new territory and follow their noses when they smell a new opportunity. We want our people to be proud of the work they do at Vital and see working here as a pathway towards a world class career.

Love

We believe in loving the work you do.
In a business like ours, a word like love is rarely used. But to do anything truly great we have to love what we do. When you love your job and the company you work for – magic can happen. At Vital, loving your job means having a great team and culture, caring about your work, and being proud of the business you work for.

Our History

Vital has 30 years’ experience managing fibre and radio networks in New Zealand, initially as CityLink and TeamTalk.

We changed our name to Vital in 2019 to unite all our networks under one brand and in 2025 we became a wholly owned subsidiary of Tait Communications.

Today, Vital is focused on providing access to our top-notch networks, building strong relationships, and supporting businesses to succeed throughout New Zealand.

We may not be the biggest telco around – but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The 24/7 Vital

Network Operations Centre

The team in our Network Operations Centre monitor our networks 24/7 to identify network issues in real-time.

Wild weather, power outages, and accidents can all have an impact on telecommunications equipment. Whether it’s a quick repair or a big project, the NOC works with teams across Vital to prevent outages, provide updates and deliver fixes for our customers.

Vital Network

Field Engineers

Based throughout NZ, our Network Field Engineers travel all over the country to support our customers.

A typical day could see our field team heading up to a radio high site, working on equipment, traveling to visit customers, programming radios, and catching some spectacular views along the way. The team recently played a huge role in our FleetLink upgrade project and are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to all things radio.

Our In-House

Fibre Team

If you see a Vital branded van in Wellington, it could be one of our friendly in-house technicians travelling to a fibre job.

Our Outside Plant team (OSP) are experts when it comes to the Vital Fibre Network. They document the intricacies of each fibre installation, talk customers through the install process, and monitor the signal quality, continuity, and condition of fibre optic cable installations. By having our own team working on our fibre network, we can offer quicker turnarounds and have full oversight over the install process.
