It’s certainly been a big year for Vital. New partnerships, major projects, and a successful takeover have kept us on our toes and made 2025 an exciting year all round.
We’ve had the privilege of working on some awesome initiatives alongside our partners and customers over the last 12 months. So, from everyone at Vital, thank you for your support this year!

Vital becomes a Tait subsidiary
The big news is that we’re now owned by Tait Communications! With the sale to Tait complete, we’ve officially been delisted from the NZX and welcomed Tait CEO, Dr Yoram Benit, and Tait CFO, Krishna Guda, to our board.
What does our change in ownership mean for you?
Not a lot to be honest, it’s business as usual for Vital. Being owned by Tait will bring new opportunities, resources, and long-term stability. Our teams, systems, and commitments to you remain unchanged, and we will continue to deliver the same high-quality service and support you expect from us.
A new partnership with DataVault
We’ve kicked off an exciting partnership with DataVault to upgrade our Lambton Quay data centre in Wellington. We’ll be co-investing in the data centre to bring it up to Tier 3 standards — the same standards as DataVault’s environment in Auckland.
The Lambton Quay data centre will also be integrated into the DataVault brand over the coming months to leverage DataVault’s market presence and boost the data centre’s growth. It’s still a Vital data centre and a key site for our fibre network, but customers will now have additional support from DataVault’s team backing their data centre services.
Positive project progress with Transpower
Vital has been working closely with Transpower this year to deliver services for their TransGo communications network refresh. Together, our teams have put many hours into developing bespoke site designs, carrying out rigorous testing, documentation, and coordinating vendors and equipment. The hard work has paid off. The first four services have successfully been rolled out and are now supporting Transpower’s tele-protection signalling and mission critical communications between sites.
Working with Lexel to connect solar farms
We continued our partnership with Lexel Systems this year to deliver IP connectivity into Lodestone’s newest solar farm. Lodestone’s fourth solar farm, Pāmu Rā ki Whitianga, in the Coromandel recently started generating electricity and will generate enough certified renewable electricity to power 6,800 homes each year. It was great to be among the delivery partners working on the project over the last 12 months.
A makeover for our Auckland Data Centre
Vital’s data centre in Auckland got a major face lift this year thanks to our wonderful Facilities Manager, Mark. Alongside updates to our cabling and aircon systems, we’ve given the data centre a sharp new look. The racks have been powder coated in Vital black, the space has been repainted in our brand colours, and we added a massive map of our Auckland fibre network to the entrance wall. The result? A better environment for your equipment that also looks great. Well-done Mark and team!
Vital supporting the community
We’re big believers in giving back to the community. Throughout 2025, our teams have taken on a step challenge to raise money for Life Flight, filled a trolley with donations for the Wellington City Mission, donated items to the SPCA, and used Vital volunteer days to support causes across NZ.
Getting in touch during the holiday period
Each year we implement a work restriction period so that our teams can enjoy some time off over the Christmas/New Year holidays. Our Network Operations Centre will continue to support our networks 24/7 throughout the holidays and can be reached by emailing faults@vital.co.nz or by calling 0800 101 900 (option 2).
